A Puerile Attempt
Sydney Morning Herald
Friday January 1, 1993
SIR: In response to "Strange creatures" (Letters, December 26) by Gordon Matheson, of Nambour, I say strange creatures, indeed |
While he ponders the mystery of Western women and their use of make-up, and the suggestion that the lack of representation in the art world is due to their absence of talent as artists, he may consider this:
I, as a user of minimal make-up but as an artist of exceptional talent who uses a plethora of paint to create thought-provoking art work that represents our society as it really is, who like millions of women in a male-dominated society which is hell-bent on self-destruction, (suggest) that maybe an explanation can be found in the fact that a male counterpart sans make-up, whose IQ, I suggest, does not exceed my bustline measurement, can manage to get a puerile attempt at psychoanalysis published in a distinguished, prominent newspaper, while I as a woman with an IQ of 150-plus have not had the privilege so far |
Patricia Peartt,
Balmain.
