Nambour is located in southeast Queensland approximately 100 kilometres north of Brisbane. The town was initially settled in 1870 and was then known as Petrie's Creek before changing the name to Nambour. The population of Nambour is approximately 13,000 and it's main industry is sugar farming.
Located just off the Bruce Highway just south of the town is the main tourist attraction in the area, The Big Pineapple. This is a place where people can purchase tropical fruit, climb the big pineapple and take a train ride through the plantation. It is an attraction, which is sure to keep the children amused for hours. There is plenty of accommodation in Nambour from bed & breakfasts to hotel/motel and caravan park accommodation.
